Description:

The Leukaemia Foundation provides support for the educational and professional development of researchers and other professionals undertaking a PhD in a field relevant to leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma or related disorders. The scholarships will be offered to people eligible to enrol in full time study and will commence in early 2013. Research funded by the Scholarship must be conducted in an Australian Institution.

Eligibility:

Applications are invited from Australian citizens and permanent residents or New Zealand citizens holding a Special Category Visa. Persons who have not yet been granted Australian permanent residency or a Special Category Visa may apply, however permanent residency or the Special Category Visa must be obtained prior to commencement of the scholarship.

Applicants must have completed no more than one year of full-time study toward their PhD. Enrolment prior to the award of the scholarship will reduce the maximum tenure of the scholarship.

Amount awarded:

The PhD Scholarships have a total value of $40,000 ($30,000pa stipend and $10,000pa for consumables) for up to three years. The Foundation expects to offer at least five of these scholarships for 2011.

The PhD Scholarships (Clinical) have a total value of $55,000 ($45,000pa stipend and $10,000pa for consumables) for up to three years. The Foundation expects to offer at least two of these scholarships for 2011. Candidates will be expected to have completed, or almost completed, their advanced medical training in haematology. The scholarship is intended to assist in the conduct of research in the field of malignant haematology.
