Canadian Commonwealth PostDoctoral Research Fellowships 2012-2013 for Citizens of the United Kingdom.As part of the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP), the Government of Canada has invited the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK to nominate 15 candidates for oneyear postdoctoral research fellowships tenable at recognised public Canadian universities in 2012.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be citizens of the United Kingdom. Anyone who has obtained Canadian citizenship or who has applied for permanent residency in Canada is not eligible for an award.
- Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. degree within the last 3 years or have completed the Ph.D. degree requirements before the beginning of the award (evidence of submission of dissertation for defence provided by the responsible department head)
- Fellowships are offered within the humanities, social sciences, natural resources and engineering but are not offered to professional artists or to those wishing to do clinical research and training involving patientcare.
- Applicants must be accepted into a postdoctoral position at a recognised public
Canadian university or affiliated research institute of their choice.
- Priority will be given to candidates who have not previously studied in Canada under a Canadian government scholarship.

Canadian Commonwealth PostDoctoral Research Fellowships for Citizens of the UK Students
Africa Initiative Research Exchange Program for Candian and African Students 2012-2013
The Africa Initiative exchange program supports short-term academic placements for Africans and Canadians undertaking research on Africa.
The program is building capacity by giving bright, highly-motivated students and scholars an opportunity to discover and impart new learning in a cross-cultural experience.
Supported research covers five thematic areas – conflict resolution, energy, food security, health, and migration, with special attention to the cross-cutting issue of climate change.
Participants have the opportunity to further their research through the utilization of on-the-ground resources and research materials, as well as to develop international networks with fellow researchers and practitioners conducting work in a relevant field of study.
Research results are presented and disseminated through a variety of public channels.
Current programming under the Africa Initiative Exchange Program is divided into two streams:
1. Short-Term Academic Placements for Africans in Canada
The program is available to graduate students enrolled at Makerere University in Uganda.
Participants are hosted at the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University and benefit from close ties with researchers at The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI).
The program is offered to up to five students per academic semester and each student spends four months in Canada conducting research and contributing to the Africa Initiative’s programs.
2. Africa Initiative Graduate Research Grant
The Africa Initiative’s Graduate Research Grant is designed to support relevant and unique research on Africa conducted by graduate students enrolled in a Canadian university.
The grant is offered to up to fifteen recipients each year. Each recipient spends as many as three months in Africa conducting research funded by the program.
Current programming is only open to Canadian students.
Additional programming for African students will be announced in 2012.

ICP PhD Scholarships 2011 for Developing Country Students in Belgium
As an ICP PhD student, you can institutionally strengthen your university or research institution in your home country by upgrading your academic capacities. Hence every year we provide 10 scholarships to people who wish to carry out research on a development topic, in a so-called sandwich programme.

The Leukaemia Foundation provides support for the educational and professional development of researchers and other professionals undertaking a PhD in a field relevant to leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma or related disorders. Eligibility:
Applications are invited from Australian citizens and permanent residents or New Zealand citizens holding a Special Category Visa. Persons who have not yet been granted Australian permanent residency or a Special Category Visa may apply, however permanent residency or the Special Category Visa must be obtained prior to commencement of the scholarship.
Applicants must have completed no more than one year of full-time study toward their PhD. Enrolment prior to the award of the scholarship will reduce the maximum tenure of the scholarship.
Amount awarded:
The PhD Scholarships have a total value of $40,000 ($30,000pa stipend and $10,000pa for consumables) for up to three years. The Foundation expects to offer at least five of these scholarships for 2011.
The PhD Scholarships (Clinical) have a total value of $55,000 ($45,000pa stipend and $10,000pa for consumables) for up to three years. The Foundation expects to offer at least two of these scholarships for 2011. Candidates will be expected to have completed, or almost completed, their advanced medical training in haematology. Postdoctoral Fellowships 2012-2013 at University of Sydney
The United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney invites applications for its 2011-2012 class of Postdoctoral Fellows.
The fellowship program, directed by Professor Margaret Levi of the United States Studies Centre and the University of Washington, is designed to bring to Sydney a cohort of the world's rising scholarly leaders working on the United States in the humanities, social sciences and related professional disciplines.
The Centre will award up to six Fellowships for a 12-month period commencing on 1 September 2011. Fellowships are open to scholars who have a PhD awarded no earlier than 1 January 2004 as well as doctoral students who will be awarded their PhDs by the end of 2011.
Fellows are expected to be in residence and to complete a major research project as well as to engage with students and scholars in Sydney and around Australia during the fellowship period. Salaries commence from AUD $86,269 and will be commensurate with experience and current employment.

Fellowships will be awarded to scholars working on the United States from Social Sciences, Humanities, Public Policy, Management, Law, and related disciplines and professional schools.

Niehaus Postdoctoral Fellowship Program in Regional Political Economy 2012-2013
This fellows program is targeted at developing a new generation of scholars able to analyze and make policy recommendations about the regional political economy in the Middle East, East, South, or Southeast Asia, Africa and Latin America. The Center invites candidates with a background in economics, political science, contemporary history, sociology, law, business, and other disciplines bearing on the study of markets, politics, and economic development, focusing on the regions of the Middle East, East, South, or Southeast Asia, Africa and Latin America to apply. Scholarly work should explore the ways in which the politics within and between a set of countries intersect with natural resource endowments, market conditions, technological and physical infrastructure, and cultural biases to explain existing patterns of economic development and to promote higher levels of development more effectively. The Commonwealth Fund/Harvard University Fellowship in Minority Health Policy
Stipend
Each fellowship provides: $50,000 stipend, full tuition, health insurance, books, travel, and related program expenses, including financial assistance for a practicum project. CFHUF is designed to prepare physician-leaders who will, over time, improve the capacity of the health care system to promote policies and practices that improve minority, disadvantaged and vulnerable populations’ access to highquality care. To accomplish this, the program will:
• Provide strong academic training, including an MPH or MPA, for highly qualified physicians.

Thompson Postdoctoral Fellowship 2012-2013 At The Stanford University,USA
The Department of Geophysics, Stanford University, has established the Thompson Postdoctoral Fellowship to be awarded to a candidate preferably within two years of receipt of the Ph.D.
The fellowship is open to applicants in any area of geophysics including new areas of research that cross existing disciplinary boundaries, so that students and recent graduates in Earth science, physics, chemistry, biology, or computational sciences with interests in the geophysical sciences are also encouraged to apply.

Scholarship for Physicians in Developing Countries
The Developing Countries Scholarship Fund was established to provide access to quality education for physicians who reside in developing countries to attend the AAHPM and HPNA Annual Assembly in Vancouver. This scholarship program will provide financial support (up to $5,000) to physicians to learn the latest clinical information and research updates in hospice and palliative care from leading experts in the field.
This scholarship program is intended to facilitate Annual Assembly participation and cover ordinary costs associated with meeting registration, travel-related expenses (air fare, cab fare, meals), and lodging.
Eligibility
Scholarships are available to physicians who reside in a developing country (as defined by the World Health Organization) and care for seriously ill patients. Preference will be given to applicants who are

This program sponsors general scholars and senior scholars, and in principle the courses will be taught in English with duration up to one year. Candidates who choose programs taught in Chinese are required to get the approval from both CSC and UNESCO on application. Campbell Fellowship for Women Scholar-Practitioners from Developing Countries,USA
One six-month fellowship is available for a female social scientist from a developing nation, either a PhD candidate or post-doctoral scholar, whose work addresses women’s economic and social empowerment in that nation. The goal of the program is twofold: to advance the scholarly careers of women social scientists from the developing world, and to support research that identifies causes of gender inequity in the developing world and that proposes practical solutions for promoting women’s economic and social empowerment.
In addition to a $4,500/month stipend and housing and office space on the SAR campus, the Campbell Fellow receives travel, shipping, and library resource funds; health insurance; and the support of a mentoring committee of established scholar-practitioners.
The following criteria guide SAR's selection of the Campbell Fellow:
Academic Discipline: Applicants should be pursuing research in one of the social sciences: anthropology, economics, education, geography, history, law, linguistics, political science, psychology, social work, or sociology, or in an interdisciplinary field that incorporates two or more of these disciplines.
Research Topic: Projects that identify causes of and/or solutions to gender inequity in the developing world, and thus contribute to women’s social and economic empowerment, will be favored. Sample topics include education and socialization of girls; globalization and the economic status of women; policies and practices toward family, reproduction, and women’s health; impacts of international and civil conflict on women; women’s roles in resolving such conflicts or sustaining civil society; media representations of women and the formation of ideologies of gender; the practice and process of gender-based development; and women in science and technology. SAR will select fellows on the strength of their clearly stated intention to serve their communities and countries of origin.
English Fluency: To facilitate full engagement in the SAR intellectual community, applicants must demonstrate their fluency in English, such as through their record of professional interaction in written and spoken English.

Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP) for Developing Countries 2012
A candidate applying for an NFP fellowship for a master’s degree programme must:
– be a mid-career professional with at least three years’ relevant work experience;
– be a national of, and working and living in one of the developing countries on the NFP country list valid at the time of application (see annex 4);
– be nominated by his or her employer, who pledges to continue paying the candidate’s salary and guarantees the candidate will be able to return to the same or an equivalent position at the end of the fellowship period2;
– have been unconditionally admitted by a Dutch institution to one of the master’s degree programmes on the course list 2012- 2013.
This means that the candidate must have met all the requirements set by the Dutch institution (see 2.2); – not already have received an NFP master’s degree fellowship;
– not be employed by:
• a multinational corporation (for instance Shell, Unilever etc.) or
• a large national and/-or commercial organisation or
