2013 Dobbin Research Scholarships for Canadian in Ireland

Canada University FoundationCanada University Foundation offers Dobbin Research Scholarships in Canada. This scholarship is available for scholars and academics who are either beginning or are currently engaged at graduate level research in a discipline which is, or has potential to be, related to both Ireland and Canada. The application deadline is 19th April 2013.


Study Subject(s): Scholarships are provided for research in a discipline which is, or has potential to be, related to both Ireland and Canada.
Course Level: The purpose of the Dobbin Scholarships is to support short focused research.
Scholarship Provider: Canada University Foundation.
Scholarship can be taken at: Ireland


Eligibility: Applicants must be permanent residents of either country, and have been living there for at least five years. The visit must take place within 12 months after the award is made. Please note: Due to the spirit and nature of the scholarship, the following are ineligible.

-Individuals seeking subsidy for study (whether for a short a course, or an undergraduate or postgraduate degree)

-Academics using the award to go on a sabbatical.

-One off visits, say to attend a conference or give a lecture.


Scholarship Open for International Students: The Canadian students can apply for this scholarship.


Scholarship Description:  The Dobbin Scholarships were initiated to support to the continued development of academic and cultural links between Canada and Ireland.

Duration of award(s): The scholarship is offered for the duration of between two and four weeks.


What does it cover?

-Travel expenses up to a total of CAD 1,300 will be paid to scholars (on transfer of receipts to ICUF).

-A weekly stipend of CAD 1,000 will be paid to scholars. This will range from CAD 2,000 (two week visit) to CAD 4,000 (four week visit).

Notification: The applications are evaluated by an assessment panel in each country, and their decisions on the awards are communicated to all applicants within two months after the closing date for applications.


How to Apply: -All documents relating to this application must be submitted by email, including referees’ reports and evidence of institutional support. Only applications which are submitted entirely by email can be considered.
